CAMP VERDE GYMKHANA ASSOCIATION
2011-2012 Rules
The Camp Verde Gymkhana Association Officers reserve the right to
pull any rider or horse from competing due to; injuries, uncontrollable behavior, abusive behavior, abusive language and/or
disregard of Arena Del Loma and/or CVGA rules. This
rule also applies to family members of competitors.
All rules will be enforced to protect the safety and well-being
of all members and spectators.
MEMBERSHIP: You must pay a yearly Verde Fair & Rec. fee
and a CVGA membership fee to run any events at Arena
Del Loma.
FAMILY MEMBERSHIP: Family membership is only for immediate
family and children under the age of 18 years or guardians. (Definition
of immediate family: A Group consisting of only a Father, Mother and their Children, Who Share the same living quarters. Or
Guardians that share the same living quarters with minors)
INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP:
SCHOOLING: Schooling is for an individual that does not want to receive points and is just schooling their horse. Schooling
participants will enter the arena at the same time as their age group but will run last. Their time will not effect the rest
of the riders in that age group and there will be no placing or points awarded to them.
EVENT FEES: These fees are to be paid at sign ups at
the beginning of each gymkhana.
ARENA FEES: $5.00 arena fee per gymkhana. ( $5.00 per
sign up sheet)
CLASS FEES:
TIME ONLYS: $3.00 per run, riders may sign up for as
many as they want. Riders are limited to 2 consecutive runs. All runs must be paid for in advance. One minute
allowed per run.
AGE GROUPS: Age groups are determined by your age,
as of January 1, 2011.
-
7 & Under Lead-line, this is an assistive class where
a parent or guardian leads the child on a horse around a shortened or modified pattern. A lead line must be held at all times.
This is not a foot race, just an opportunity for the younger kids to build confidence & learn the pattern.
-
7 & under, the child and horse navigate through the pattern
alone, a parent or guardian may stand and assist the rider without leading the horse. Riders must wear a helmet.
No jumping required.
-
8 – 10 everyone 10 and under must wear a helmet (CVGA
has helmets to borrow)
- 11-14, 15– 18, 19-34, 35-49, 50 &
over
*age groups to be determined based upon membership
POINTS: There will be three events held each month
for 8 months. You must ride a minimum of 18 events to qualify for year-end awards. Points accumulated for
each event are kept on a yearly basis. Points will be given as follows:
Lead-line: All riders who complete the pattern
correctly will receive a participation ribbon or a prize box item for each event that they participate in.
-
At
the end of the year all of the kids that are eligible (have rode in the minimum required events) will receive an award. They
will all be equal in quality and price. There will be no child left out.
-
We will be keeping times so we can see riders progress throughout
the year. For those who want to progress and move up to the 7 and under they will not have any points to carry over or, from the child point of view, to lose. If the lead liner moves up
to 7 and under they will still receive a participant place in the lead line age group just as if they had not moved up. Instead
of losing out on all of there hard work and not receiving anything.
-
In addition to the year end award we would also like to give
out a “Most Improved Award.” (Just for this age group) This is why we will be keeping times so we can see there
progress throughout the year, (If the child starts to ride by themselves moving into the 7 and under age group, they will
still be considered for this award.)
Grand
entry: Each rider that enters the arena and participates in the grand entry, or helps during the grand entry before each
gymkhana will receive 1 point each time, this point will be added to the event points for that day.
