CAMP VERDE GYMKHANA ASSOCIATION
2010-2011 SEASON RULES
1. The CVGA officers reserve the right to pull any rider or horse from competing
due to; injuries, uncontrollable behavior, abusive behavior, abusive language and/or disregard of Arena Del Loma and/or Camp
Verde Gymkhana Association rules. This rule also applies to family members of competitors.
2. All rules will be enforced to protect the safety and well-being of all members
and spectators.
3. MEMBERSHIP: You must pay for both a Verde Fair & Rec. fee and a membership
fee to run any events at Arena Del Loma. Family membership is only for immediate family and children under the age of
18 years or guardians.
Verde Fair & Recreation:
Family Membership: $25.00 per year
Individual Membership: $15.00 per year
Schooling Membership: $15.00 Per Year
Camp Verde Gymkhana: Family
Membership: $30.00 per year
Individual Membership: $20.00 per year
Schooling Membership: $10.00 Per Year
4. EVENT FEES:
19 & UP: $3.00 per event 11-18: $3.00 per event 8-10 $3.00 per event
7 & under: $1.00 per event TIME ONLY'S: $3.00 for everyone per run each event. All runs must be paid for in advance.
BOOKS OPEN FOR GYMKHANA AT 8:00 TIME ONLY'S 9:00 GRAND ENTRY STARTS AT END OF
TIMEONLYS OR 10:00 AT THE LATEST.
5. Camp Verde Gymkhana is held on most second Sundays of each month. Any changes
to this date are due to weather conditions, arena availability and/or conflicting holidays. We will put any changes on our
web site. WWW.mycvga.COM It is not our responsibility to notify any one by phone!!You are more then welcome
to call one of the leaders. Numbers online or at end of rules.
6. Points accumulated for each event are kept on a yearly basis. Points will be
given as follows:
19 & UP : 1st Place = 5 pts. $3.00 2nd Place = 4 pts. $2.00
3rd Place = 3 pts. $1.00 4th Place = 2 pts. ribbon 5th Place = 1 pt. ribbon Grand Entry = 1 pt.
11-18: 1st Place = 5 pts. $3.00 2nd Place = 4 pts. $2.00
3rd Place = 3 pts. $1.00 4th Place = 2 pts. ribbon 5th Place = 1 pt. ribbon Grand Entry = 1 pt.
8-10: 1st Place = 5 pts. $3.00 2nd Place = 4 pts. $2.00
3rd Place = 3 pts. $1.00 4th Place = 2 pts. ribbon 5th Place = 1 pt. ribbon Grand Entry
= 1 pt.
7 & under 1st Place = 5pts. ribbon 2nd Place = 4pts. ribbon 3rd Place = 3pts.
ribbon 4th Place = 2 pts. ribbon 5th Place = 1 pt. ribbon Grand Entry = 1pt.
Leadline 1st Place = 5pts. ribbon 2nd Place = 4pts. ribbon 3rd Place = 3pts. ribbon
4th Place = 2 pts. ribbon 5th Place = 1 pt. ribbon Grand Entry = 1pt.
7. THERE WILL BE THREE EVENTS HELD EACH MONTH FOR 9 MONTHS. YOU MUST RIDE A
MINIMUM OF 20 EVENTS TO QUALIFY FOR YEAR - END AWARDS!! Points will be put toward year end awards will be given to qualified
riders only. *There will always be Barrels, Poles and one odd event every month that will be set at the designated points
and prices noted above. In addition there will also be a FUN event held at the end of the day. Entry will be $3.00 per rider
every one will be competing agents each other. The winner takes half of the entry pot; NO points will be issued. If there
are two winners then they will split the ½ of the pot equally. All events will be handed out and know in advance of the next
gymkhana.
8. NO-ONE under the age fourteen is allowed in the arena unless
you are on your horse competing.
9. *AGES 14 AND UP! You must sign up to volunteer for 5 events (age
group, not whole event) for 4 gymkhanas to qualify. Ages 13 and under must have parent sign up to volunteer. Volunteers who
sign up will be called to arena prior to event. PLEASE SHOW UP!!!!! (no show, no credit)
10. Age groups are determined by your age, as of January 1, 2010. The age groups
are as follows:
7 & under (either ride alone or can be lead by some one 15 and older,
8 – 10 Every one 10 and under must wear a helmet,
11-14, 15– 18 , 19 - 39 , 40 & over
*Age groups to be determined by CVGA officers based upon membership
11. When your age group is called, please enter the arena and proceed to the holding
pen. There will be a two minute gate call for each age group before the gate is closed. Your name will be called three times
and then we will move on. Do not leave the arena while a rider is running an event!
*If you need to enter through the gate, please let announcer know before
the event.
12. Only one person per family is allowed in the arena to help the younger riders.
13. NO BATTING, WHIPPING OR SPURRING YOUR HORSE IN FRONT OF THE CINCH. (THIS RULE
WILL BE STRONGLY ENFORCED.) Once you cross the starting time line, the pattern must be completed correctly. Rider must
be on horse when crossing the finish line. If you break the pattern or cross the finish line before the pattern is completed,
you are disqualified, and will be asked to leave the arena.
14. ALL CONTESTANTS MUST SIGN A HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT. Children under 18 years
of age must have a parent/ guardian signed waiver to ride. All membership fees must be paid before you will be allowed to
ride any events in the gymkhana and/or have the use of Arena Del Loma.
15. IF YOUR HORSE KICKS, YOU MUST HAVE A RED RIBBION TIED ON THE HORSES TAIL.
THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS!! (There is ribbon available at the sign up table.) If you are asked to put a red ribbon
on your horse and you disagree or remove it, you will be disqualified for the events that day and/or could be asked to leave
to arena premises.
16. Standard western stock saddles only! Boots or shoes with well defined heel
must be worn in the arena. Equine riding helmets will be worn by all contestants ages 10 & under and 11 - 18 is highly
recommended! NO EXCEPTIONS!! CVGA has helmets to borrow.
17. Parents and all contestants are responsible for checking all tack and riding
equipment for safety and soundness prior to each event.
**Parents, it is your responsibility to make sure that your child's helmet is
securely fastened in place (no helmets off the back of the head) and has an appropriately fitted saddle. i.e: stirrups
at right length to fit rider.
18. Any women, five or more months pregnant must have a doctor's written permission,
issued that week, in order to participate in ANY event.
19. NO RUNNING OF HORSES IN THE PARKING AREA!! (Horses can only be run in the
designated practice area at the end corner of parking lot.) Walk horses in and out of the arena and have horse under control
while exiting the arena. NO EXCEPTIONS!
20. NO DOGS ARE ALLOWED AT ARENA DEL LOMA AT ANY TIME!!! This is
Arena Del Loma’s rule, and will be enforced this year. No dogs on the property, including parking area. You will be
asked to take your dog home. This rule is to help insure the safety of us all; horses, riders and spectators. PLEASE LEAVE
DOGS HOME!!!
21. Lame horses will not be allowed to compete at the discretion of the C.V.G.A.
officers. (If you are in doubt as to whether your horse is lame or not, please check with the judges or officers.)
22. There will be a rotation in the line up. Who went 1st will be last at the
next gymkhana and so on.
Please keep in mind, all rules of the Verde Valley Gymkhana Association, Verde
Fair & Recreation Association and of Arena Del Loma are to help insure all of our safety. We are hoping to have a fun,
safe year ahead with our families and friends. Please also help us keep the Arena and surrounding areas clean by disposing
of your garbage. We are proud to hold our gymkhanas here and would like to thank the Verde Fair & Recreation Association
and the Camp Verde Posse for all the help they give us in order for us to put this on each year.
We would also like to thank all the people who volunteer
their time and help each year to this association. Without you, none of this would be possible.
If weather dictates a cancellation, we will put it out on our web site mycvga.com.

please feel free to contact us at any time.
Year-End Awards will be given in all age groups, including Lead Line. Date, time
and location of awards ceremony will be announced at a later date.
